Description
Ever had to replace or remove an interchangeable thumb outer? If so, you know how nearly impossible it is to keep your drill perfectly centered in the bore — so you end up oversizing the hole just to clear all the material, and now it’s plugging epoxy time.
Wouldn’t it be great if something centralized the bore in your press, so the bit only removes the outer’s material and never touches the ball itself? JoPo makes one — but have you seen the price tag?
RDTL to the rescue. I’ve got centralizers for both JoPo and Turbo systems, and I can promise they won’t break the bank.
Just use an RDTL pitch gauge to get the outer’s drilled pitch, adjust your table accordingly, drop in the centralizer to perfectly align the bore, and drill away. Each centralizer also has a built-in brim, so once the old outer’s out, it doubles as a seating guide to help you drop the replacement outer in straight and true.
(And yes — JoPo and Turbo outers have a slightly different ID even though both use the same 1½” hole. Covered that too.)
