Rolling Down The Lane™ · R&D Lab
Where Engineering
Meets the Lane.
This is where ideas are born, tested, refined, and proven. Not in a corporate lab — in a home shop in Hawthorn Woods, Illinois.
Before there was a Bambu P2S, there was wood. Hand-cut, carefully assembled, functionally sound — but time-consuming and not something a high-volume pro shop would ever consider. Those early wood jigs worked well enough to prove the concept, but they also proved something else: the concept deserved better materials.
In late February 2026, a Bambu P2S arrived. The first simple designs were in TinkerCAD — simple, functional, exploratory, but then I needed something more powerful. Enter Fusion 360, and with it, a level of precision that changed everything. My first 3D printed jig was made with PLA and fully intended to be a simple proof of concept. When it not only performed well but was handling the rigors of multiple ball drillings I knew I was onto something.
The background was there — 27 years as a Systems Engineer, before that, a mechanic and machine operator who understood materials, tolerances, and the unforgiving reality of real-world performance. This wasn't a hobbyist experiment. This was engineering discipline applied to a field that had been waiting for it.
PLA gave way to PETG-CF, ASA, PA6-CF. Simple clamps evolved into vacuum-assisted ball retention systems. A hand span tool became a patent-pending precision measuring instrument. And a conversation with a respected local pro shop ownerbecame a mentorship that continues to shape every product in the catalog. Every item I sell was born out of a real-world necessity for something better, easier, and more affordable.
Rolling Down The Lane™ exists because the bowling industry deserves better and more affordable tools — and FDM manufacturing is finally capable of delivering them.
The Wood Jig Era
Hand-crafted wooden ball drilling jigs — functional, proven, but labor-intensive. Too time-consuming for volume production, but enough to validate the core concept. The seed was planted.
OriginThe Bambu P2S Arrives
A Bambu P2S printer enters the garage. First prints in TinkerCAD — simple and exploratory. The transition from wood to FDM begins immediately.
MilestoneFusion 360 & The Engineering Bug
Progression to Fusion 360 unlocks parametric design. The first PLA jig performs flawlessly. PETG-CF replaces PLA. The engineering discipline that defined a 27-year career now drives product development full time.
Turning PointKaiser's Mentorship & Field Testing
A partnership forms with Kaiser's Bowling Supply in Mundelein, IL — a highly respected pro shop operator whose real-world input shapes every product. Prototypes go into active field testing.
PartnershipPatent Pending & Site Launch
The Precision Hand Span Measuring Tool achieves patent-pending status and deployed in a professional pro shop. Rolling Down The Lane™ launches publicly. The vacuum-assisted drilling jig system enters final testing.
LaunchKaiser's Shop Installation
The Ultimate 2-in-1 Drilling Jig System is scheduled for installation at Kaiser's Bowling Supply — the second professional pro shop deployment of an RDTL™ tool. A major milestone.
Coming SoonGreg has brought more innovation in the past 6 months than I've seen in the past 20 years.
Have an Idea or a Problem?
Every product in this catalog started as a real problem that needed an engineering solution. If you're a pro shop operator, a competitive bowler, or a garage hobbyist with a challenge that current tools don't solve — we want to hear about it. That's how the next product gets born.
